The State Pollution Control Board Sikkim (SPCBS) on August 07, 2025, issued the notification regarding the classification of industries/sectors in Red/Orange/Green/White and Blue.
The following has been stated namely: -
• SPCB-Sikkim has categorized several additional sectors under CPCB’s color-coded system, mainly placing them in the White (least polluting) and Green categories.
• White Category Additions: Most newly added sectors, such as small food-processing units, homestays, training centers, handloom units without dyeing, travel agencies, small restaurants, and micro-scale manufacturing are classified as White, indicating minimal environmental impact.
• Few Green Category Inclusions: Only Agro-Horti warehouses with cold storage fall under the Green category, showing moderate but controlled environmental impact compared to others.
